Cost guide

How much does custom software development cost in the UAE?

Custom software in the UAE is priced by the size of the first operable release, the integrations, and the cost of being wrong. A tool that replaces one spreadsheet is a different budget from a multi-branch operational system.

Three shapes we actually see

A single-team tool, such as a booking diary or a lead register with an import, is often a five-figure to low six-figure AED conversation if the data is available and the rules are stable. A departmental system with approvals, roles, and one finance or messaging integration commonly sits in a solid six-figure band. A multi-department platform, with migration from a legacy database and audit requirements, is a programme of releases and should be budgeted that way.

These are planning bands Raab Group uses so a first meeting is not vague. They are not a quotation and not an average of other companies’ invoices.

The costs people forget

Moving the old data, including the rows nobody can explain. Arabic and English if the users need both. Training the person who currently owns the spreadsheet, because the system fails if they do not trust it. A backup you have restored once. Permissions between branches. A support window after launch so the first month is not a crisis.

VAT and commercial terms are for the contract and your finance team. A software page should not invent your tax position. Do ask whether a quoted number is the whole engagement or a discovery slice.

Fixed price and flexible scope

A fixed price is honest when the release is narrow and the integrations are known. It becomes fiction when the process is still being discovered. In that case a short paid discovery, then a fixed first release, is safer than a large number with a change-request trap.

Speed does not require a blank cheque, and it does not require dropping tests. It requires agreeing what will not be in the release. If a vendor will not write that list, the price is not comparable with one that includes it.

Budget before a fixed price

The number follows

  • How special the record is
  • Integrations and migration
  • The controls you need in the first release

Do not treat as a quote

  • A page of ranges
  • VAT guesses
  • A fixed price before the “not included” list

How to read a UAE software budget

01

The slice

A first release and a company-wide programme are different orders of cost.

02

The data

Moving history is often larger than the new screens.

03

The contract

Ask whether the number is discovery, a release, or a year of change.

Before you treat a range as a price

  1. 01

    The slice

First release, or a company-wide programme.

  2. 02

    The history

    Whether old data must move.

  3. 03

    The controls

Access and audit in the first release, or named as later.

  4. 04

    The contract

Discovery, a release, or a year of change. Ask which number you were given.

Marks a custom cost note is honest

  1. 01

    The special step

The range moves with the part a package cannot do.

  2. 02

    Buy is still an option

The note says when a product you can license is the smaller path.

  3. 03

    Not a quote

Nothing on the page is a fixed price.

  4. 04

    The first release is smaller

The figure people should plan against is the slice, not the whole catalogue.

Questions we hear

Is custom software more expensive than a subscription product?

Often at the start, sometimes not over three years of licences, workarounds, and exports. The custom versus off-the-shelf article is the decision guide. Cost alone is the wrong first question.

Can a Sharjah or Ajman company use the same bands?

The bands are about scope, not the emirate. Smaller companies should aim at the narrow tool, not at the programme. The Sharjah and Ajman pages talk about that fit.

Do you publish day rates?

No. A day rate without a scope is how both sides misunderstand the budget. Describe the release and we will answer in that shape.
